Lambert full of praise for £7M hitman, Benteke.

Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert has praised Christian Benteke after the striker scored to give his side victory over Reading at Villa Park last week and also put in another good shift on saturday against QPR.

Belgian Benteke  was a £7million summer signing from Genk and soon relegated England international Darren Bent to the bench.

Amid rumours that Bent is to leave Villa in January after failing to make the bench on Tuesday, Lambert instead preferred to heap praise on his 21-year-old forward.

"Christian has been excellent, you run out of things to say about the big guy,"

"He has turned himself into a fans' favourite here, that's for sure, and his general game is outstanding at the minute. He has been brilliant for us. I thought the header for the winner against Reading was fantastic.

"You forget he is only 21 and he might not hit his peak until his late 20s but he is playing ever so well for us.

"You've got to be a special type of player to play that lone striker role. He is developing his whole demeanour...he is growing up. He is a strong lad but also has really good ability. He does get on the end of chances. I've been delighted with him."

Benteke has scored three Premier League goals in 12 appearances this season.

Has Villas new £7m striker Bentekke-ing cars?

Christian Benteke

ASTON Villa's £7 million summer signing Christian Benteke is facing car-jacking charges in his native Belgium.

The Belgian international striker and two friends are accused of being involved in the brutal beating of a motorist before making off in the victim’s Volkswagen Polo car.

The 21-year-old Congolese-born player was arrested at the scene in Liege, Belgium, and held overnight before being brought to court in handcuffs to face charges of robbery and assault.

All three men were later released and, through a statement from his former club in Genk, Benteke denied the charges claiming he had only been interviewed by police as a witness to the attack last November.

Benteke made his “dream move” to Aston Villa from Racing Club Genk on transfer deadline day last month in a four-year deal for a fee believed to be worth around £7 million.

The controversial striker, who threatened to sue Genk after they rejected Villa’s initial bid, was caught up in the alleged car-jacking incident last November after two friends asked him for a lift, apparently to the victim’s home.

Belgian sports journalist Jan Haupsie has reported that the two men, aged 23 and 24, claim they had paid the victim 6000 euros a day earlier for a Volkswagen Golf car which later showed up on police records as being stolen.

Haupsie said: “The men were stopped in Liege by police who confiscated the car and told them it had been stolen on October 14 from an address in Paris.

“The next day the two men called up their friend, Christian, and asked him for a lift so that they could confront the seller, who was referred to in court as Kevin.”

After a dismal start to the 2012/13 campaign against West Ham and Everton, Aston Villa shown what they're really worth and ready to do against Newcastle Utd. Question is, As a Loyal Villan, Are you happy with the Squad that we have and what do you expect from Lamberts Lions this season?

Subject: Good/Bad ?

The players that Mr.Lambert bought for Aston Villa seem pretty clever to me. Ok, They lack premiership experience but so does everybody else before they come here. Take a look at Ronaldo, Fans and Pundits were slating Sir Alex for the amount he paid for such a young and inexperienced boy - yet he came through as one of the greatest the league has ever seen. Like him or not, you can't deny it.

Benteke - Seems to have good and bad words said about him, depends who you listen to really. Good side is that he's a workhorse and will settle fast and hit the back of the net plenty of times in the right set-up under Paul. which is obviously what he was brought for. Bad side is that he supposedly has a bit of an attitude problem, like Charles N'Zogbia if you like.

Westwood - Nothing but praise from everybody i've spoken to. Not to mention Man Utd wanted to buy him in a deal with Nick Powell last year but he decided to stay loyal as captain of Crewe. Luckily for us, He's chosen to come to villa, he seems a very nice lad and a quality player. Let's hope he can cope exactly what David Platt done for Villa when we grabbed him from Crewe.

The other players also seem good signings too. My only issue is this. Is he going to throw these players into the squad and effect the squad that performed so well against Newcastle United? Or is he going to take is time and hopefully 'gel' them in together? Either way, It's going to take a long time to get going as a whole. Don't expect wonders straight away from these players, Don't expect magic from Paul Lambert. It took time for O'Neill to get going at Villa and look how he turned out in the end, done a fantastic job. (Apart from spitting his dummy out)

Stay Loyal Villans, Don't get too disheartened when things don't go our way.

im vtid, really am, not missed a home game since 2006. this year though even with lambert and the new signings in. im not feeling too confident, i just cant see our squad doing much at all this year. too many players at villa have either moaning issues or ego problems. if nzogbia wants to keep moaning on twitter then he can go to another club and moan. dont need it. im glad ireland is in lamberts good bokks now because on his day hes one of the best in the prem. i just hoe newcastle is a taste of whats to come. i cant see it continuing though to be fair. but no matter what game, what result, what league, im always loyal to villa, always will be.

Villa park is always a pleasure to visit exspecially on match days, Benteke is certainly a mean fighting beast of a machine and has the power to get bent to his full ability.we know Bent is good better than good but he lacks a beast of a player to kick ass sometimes, he certainly has that in Benteke. I think aston villa have no reason but to do well, this season as we have had some seasons we would like to forget. so we will villa can get to the top 6 with Benteke . Subject: Re: GONE

Afternoon Butler,

I'm not meant to be biased on my own website but what the hell, i couldn't agree more with you! Apparantly, the real reason for offloading Collins is because of his performance on Broad Street (Drunken Brawl), But, If that's the case then surely we must also get rid of Herd and Delph? They also had a part to play in the act. Whilst we're on the subject of Bad Role-Model's, Wouldn't it also be fair to ditch Bannan too? He did drink and drive, which is a lot more dangerous and stupid than a drunken street brawl. We cannot have a rule for Collins and then another rule for other players!

Another reason i've heard is due to his contract. He only has 12 Months left running on his current deal with AVFC. So instead of risking losing him for free next year, Lambert will accept around £2M for him, apparantly keeping Dunne because nobody will take him on at his age with the weekly sum he demands.

Correct me if i'm wrong, BUT, i'm pretty sure there's a way around that, There's two things called 'Offering Collins a new contract' and 'Pushing through the contract release clause with Dunne'.

I cannot understand for the life of me why Collins is going instead, but i do believe in Lambert and i'll judge his actions of transfers in/out come Christmas.

Regards,

We here as Aston Villa Loyal are rather impressed with a number of things since Lambert has taken over.

The confidence in the squad is unreal, when they don't have possession of the ball they graft and graft until they get it back. Once they do, The mixture of both Long and Short passing is fantastic, Confident and very dangerous as it's rather unpredictable. i've noticed a lot of one touch fast paced passing in the last few matches, again, pass and move comes with confidence.

We look as dangerous going forward as we did several years ago before we lost Milner and Young to the manchester Duo. Once it's in the box there seems to always be somebody there instead of crossing the ball into an empty box like last season.

Two players who have really stood out for me? Karim El Ahmadi & Ciaran Clark.

Subject: Welcome To Villa Park Mr.Lambert

I myself am absolutely over the moon at the appointment of Paul Lambert. The job he done with Norwich City in such a short space of time and a limited budget was out of this world. Now, with the squad he already has down Villa Park and apparantly spending money between £15M-£25M, I can only expect to see great things back at our beloved club.

Last season was such an under achievement, as you all know. That squad that Alex McLeish had to work with was more than capable of ATLEAST a top half finish yet we somehow managed to get ourselves into a scrap at the wrong end of the table and finish just two points off relegation.

I'm not expecting to be qualifying for European football withing Lamberts first season in charge because he will need time, So my target for the end of this 2012/13 season is realistic to me. Tell me what you think, Here goes:-

League Finish : Between 6th & 9th
Domestic Cup : Quarter Finals Of Atleast One Of The Two.
Form : Win Atleast 65% Of Our Home Games.

WELCOME PAUL LAMBERT AND ALL THE BEST TO YOU!

With this man in charge Aston Villa are in severe trouble! Before our star-man (Darren Bent) got injured he never even knew how to use him - I'm sure even the most basic of manager's know how to say 'Score a goal'. He brings a player on who is slow and makes no impact at all (Heskey) yet seems to do this whenever we are losing or drawing near the 90th. Even the most basic of managers know not to send heskey on AT ALL - Especially not as a S.A.S style substitute!

Blue noses talk about 4-5-1 all the time to villa but lets be honest. McLeish very rarely uses 451 at villa park, The mistake he does make though is the formations he does use he makes them all defend and makes them look scared to attack!

The man has no respect for the players or from the players, no respect for the fans or from the fans but most of all, he doesnt care less about Aston Villa Football Club and what it stands for!

We need to drop him before we drop leagues!

Subject: McEgo

When Alex McLeish first got appointed I honestly thought he could be the man we needed to bring stability back to the club and get the best out of the players. Now, I'm as confused and angry as everyone else about the situation we're in. There's a good chance that some of the players just can't be bothered to put the graft in for the Villa any more, but I think a lot of it is to do with the manager's ego.

Ever since Ireland kicked off against Newcastle he's been warming the bench. Heskey comes off the bench and contributes nothing. We play the same hoofball strategy every week and end up either drawing or losing to teams we should be beating. Then we get a bunch of excuses defending the performances. This is all because Alex McLeish refuses to change, from his mentality towards tactics or his opinion towards players. Why else would Dunne and Warnock keep getting picked? Because they know if they stroke the ego enough they'll keep their places.

If McLeish really cared about the Villa he'd listen to the fans. He doesn't have to walk, not yet, but just listen to what we're saying. Facts don't lie. If he believes he can stop this rot, keep us in the Premier League and bring us back stronger next season (and he doesn't), he should walk.

Its all very well saying Mcleish out and Lerner out, because of the way probably 70% of the team have performed this season it should also be them out aswell, i've always said if their hearts not in Aston Villa Football Club, then as far as im concerned they can fuck off, regardless if its a 20mill so called star player or a free transfer from Rochdale, and i know i may be talking like a complete twat here when i say what im about to say but i would replace at least 7 first teamers with reserve players without hesitation, they play with more heart and passion for the shirt week in week out than any first teamer has done this season, and id have Sid Cowans and Kev Mac running the show

Aston Villa announce £53.9m loss for 2010-11 financial year. Who's to blame and what next for the biggest midlands club?

Date: 29/02/2012

By: Aston Villa Loyal

Subject: 2010-11 Losses

Aston Villa bosses insist they are satisfied with the club's financial position despite announcing annual losses of almost £54m.

It does not include money raised from the sales of England wingers Ashley Young and Stewart Downing last June.

Villa revealed total income had increased by 1.3% to a record £92m.

Chief financial officer Robin Russell said: "Given the challenging economic environment we're pleased with positive trends in our financial performance."

Villa confirmed the overall loss for the year up to 31 May 2011 represents an increase from £37.6m.

The figure includes the record £24m transfer fee spent to bring England striker Darren Bent to Villa Park in January last year.

The financial statement also showed Villa's commercial income had increased by 15.9% year on year.

The Birmingham club spent £12m on changes in the football management staff, while American owner Randy Lerner invested £25m. There was an £8.3m reduction in bank borrowings.

Russell added: "The board of Aston Villa are confident that the actions taken since the end of the 2010-11 financial year have galvanised the long-term sustainability of the club and have also given us a better financial platform on which to build for future success.

"Our objectives are to compete strongly on the pitch and to achieve sustainability as well as compliance with Uefa's Financial Fair Play requirements."
